Things You'll Need

  • Noniodized sea salt

  • Ceramic dish

  • Dried herbs (sage, rose petals, frankincense, cedar, and/or sandalwood)

  • Garden shovel

  • Quartz cluster

Malachite is a semiprecious stone that is recognized by its dark green color. It is known among metaphysical healers for its ability to soothe arthritis. It is also known to absorb negative energy and is used in Feng Shui design. Keeping malachite near your work area is said to give you clarity and patience in all you do. Over time, malachite needs to be cleansed and recharged to eliminate the negative energy that it has absorbed. Follow these steps in order or choose one as a standalone method to cleanse your malachite.

Step 1

Pour a layer of sea salt into the ceramic dish. Lay the stone on top of the salt and place it in the moonlight overnight. Placing the stone in moonlight is optional, but this helps to recharge the stone under natural elements.

Step 2

Remove the salt and place the malachite back in the dish. Sprinkle one or more of the dried herbs over the stone. You can also leave this out overnight for the moon to shine upon. Don't forget to recycle the herbs later and use them for aromatherapy.

Step 3

Dig a hole in your garden and place the malachite in the ground, covering it with soil. The minerals and nutrients in the soil will help cleanse and recharge the malachite. Leave this for several days.

Step 4

Lay the malachite on a quartz cluster. Quartz is a neutral stone that is used to absorb the negative energy from other stones. Leave the stone on the quartz overnight.

Tip

Try to keep your malachite out of direct sunlight for extended periods of time as this can fade the stone's color and reduce its healing effectiveness.
