Ideas for Wanted Western Posters

Save

Wanted: a clever, eye-catching poster that is sure to grab some attention. If this describes you, look no further than a Western-themed Wanted poster for a silly, creative informational display. Make personalized wanted posters and use them as invitations to an event like a birthday party, or to ask someone out on a date.

Layout

  • Before beginning your posters, decide what your general layout is going to look like as well as the size of each poster. For instance, decide where you want the person's photo or drawing to go on the page, and then decide whether or not you want to layer jail-cell bars on top of the image. You should also decide what kind of font to use, and whether or not you'll reproduce it by hand or if you should have the posters printed.

Materials

  • You'll need a piece of old-fashioned looking paper for your posters, so either choose a clean piece of manila or tan-colored paper, or stain white pieces of paper with tea for an authentic, distressed look. You'll also need a photograph or caricature of the wanted person. One option is to take an old-fashioned-looking photo of them using a black and white or sepia film hue. Have the person dress up in a Western costume for an authentic-looking image. Or, if the posters are supposed to be a silly surprise, choose a preexisting photo of the person doing something silly or sneaky and make photocopies of it in black and white to go along with the old-fashioned poster theme.

Slogan

  • Come up with a clever slogan that states what the person is wanted for. If you're hosting a Western-themed birthday party for the person, say something about being wanted for committing acts of debauchery and bad behavior for however many years old the person is. Or, if you're asking the person on a date or to an event with the wanted posters, simply state that his presence is requested for the evening to accompany you.

Reward

  • A reward is an important component of any wanted poster, so come up with a clever one to add to the bottom of the page. For instance, the reward could be some of the person's personal favorite things, or could be an astronomical sum of money. For a good-natured dig at the person's worth, you could make the monetary reward sum something really measly like a dollar.
