The quinceanera is a coming-of-age tradition for 15-year-old girls in Latin cultures. Similar to a Sweet 16, this event has one focus: the birthday celebrant. As such, the quinceanera decorations typically reflect the hobbies, interests and preferences of the guest of honor. Talk to the quinceanera celebrant about her favorite colors, flowers and activities when planning the table decorations.
Personalize your table decorations at the quinceanera by creating photo centerpieces of the guest of honor. Count the number of tables you will have at the party, and find one photo for each table. For example, if you have nine tables, then find nine photos from different stages of the quinceanera celebrant's life. Frame the pictures in silver or gold frames -- and place one in the center of each table. Include the year on the photo on the frame, so that guests can reflect on how much the guest of honor has grown.
Pops of Color
Much like wedding receptions, quinceaneras typically have a color theme that reflects the favorite colors of the celebrant. The tables can add a significant amount of color to your reception venue. For example, if the quinceanera celebrant likes purple, you can drape the tables in lilac linens. Place deep purple cloth napkins at each place setting and select a floral centerpiece that matches the color scheme.
Perhaps the quinceanera celebrant has chosen a specific theme for her celebration, such as a luau or a 50s sock hop. Your table decorations can reflect this theme as well. For a luau, you can hollow out a pineapple and fill it with sand and tropical flowers for a distinctive floral centerpiece. If the guest of honor chooses a sock hop theme, you can include a centerpiece of flowers in a soda fountain glass with a straw. You might also want to add a favor to each table setting. For example, if you're having a luau theme, include a colorful floating lotus candle or a lei.
Her Favorite Things
Celebrate the top interests of the quinceanera celebrant by using the tables to display her favorite things. Each table can have a different theme, which can give the guests insight into her personality. If she is a cheerleader, for example, you can decorate one table in her high school colors and include her pom-poms as the centerpiece. Another table can reflect her interest in photography by showcasing photos she has taken.
