An eBusiness Checklist

E-commerce businesses are by no means simpler than traditional businesses.

If you are creating an e-business you need to factor several things in to your plans. This is why it is a good idea to develop a checklist. Your goal is to determine the various factors that will make your business a success, and then put them in writing. Doing so will help you formulate a business plan that works out well and keep you on track in meeting the needs of your customers.

  1. Products

    • The single most important factor in your business is the product you are offering. As a part of your checklist you need to determine exactly what this product is going to be and whether you will sell more than one product. You should also note if you are providing a service rather than a product. Make note of whether the product is likely to change and how often that will happen. You need to know the likelihood of customers coming back for repeat purchases. Most of all you should establish whether your product is well known and highly desired.

    Market

    • Once you have established what you are promoting, it is important to know who you are promoting it to. You should take the time to really know the targeted market you are striving to reach. Everything from their average income and education to how easy it will be to reach them will play a role in the success of your business. It is time to plan how you will access potential customers and what will make your marketing successful.

    Pricing

    • Before you set up the business you need to establish the guidelines for your pricing. You should develop a plan of whether the price will be uniform or whether it will change based on which group of customers is accessing the information. Also determine whether you will be offering discounts and promotions on your products. All of this is vital to how you will set up your business and should be decided beforehand.

    Site Metrics

    • The key to success is knowing what works and what does not. This means you have to have a way to keep track of details. Set up a plan on how you will track visitors to your site and what brought them there. Find a way to know which visits converted into sales and how often that happened. Always stay on top of which ads brought in the most visitors. Each detail of your site will play a role in its success, and you should have a way to measure all of this information.
