Summer Jobs in Holiday Parks
Holiday parks are resorts geared towards families during the summer months in parts of Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Often beside a beach or lake, they provide sites for tents, caravans and campers, and many also have cabins, motel rooms and lodges. The Holiday Accommodation Parks Association of New Zealand reported that 3.1 million guests stayed in just one of the country's many parks in June 2009. With the popularity of these resorts continuing to grow, thousands of summer job opportunities are available at almost any park.

Managerial/Courier Positions
-
Managers ensure things run smoothly. Managers and Couriers are vital in ensuring the quality of the resort remains consistent throughout. Responsibilities include coordinating hotel operations, dealing with technical issues, office work and guest relations. The position comes packed with responsibility and the person hired is usually in charge of training a small team of employees. Managers are also hired to oversee specific units of the park. Entertainment Managers, Airport Managers, and Leisure Managers are at most holiday parks.
Reception Staff and Childcare
-
Childcare staff organizes activities. The reception desk requires a person to be extremely diligent at multi-tasking. Primary roles include checking guests in and out, answering the phone, taking messages, sales promotions and upgrades, IT skills, and directing guests to activities and services on and off the grounds. The childcare staff has the responsibility of supervising children at the park, but also reassuring parents their kids will be well taken care of. You are responsible for organizing all games and activities and you are responsible for the basic hygiene and safety of the children staying at the park.

Maintenance and Housekeeping
-
Rooms need to be cleaned daily. The maintenance staff is responsible for maintaining cottages, cabins and rooms, and carrying out general repairs and emergency maintenance when required. The job may also include the communal grounds of the park. This can include pruning, mowing lawns, hedge trimming, planting, weeding, tree work and anything else required to keep the park presentable. Housekeeping handles the same responsibilities, but the staff works indoors. You ensure that any part of the resort frequented by guests is clean and that guest rooms have all the necessary items.
Outdoor and Water Activities
-
Lifeguards are needed for the pool and the beach. Holiday parks offer hundreds of activities for both children and adults. Most parks are centered by a lake or a beach, so water activities and outdoor sports offer a lot of job opportunities. Lifeguards are in demand because, besides the lake or ocean, most all holiday parks have indoor or outdoor pools. Staff is also needed to handle the many outdoor activities offered at the park. This can include canoeing, sailing, kayaking, water skiing, archery, golf and tennis.
