Over a billion people smoke regularly in the world, some of whom include celebrities.

Celebrity smokers include actresses, pop stars, fashion models and politicians. Although many celebrity smokers claim to have quit in interviews, they may be seen smoking in public or caught with a cigarette in their mouths by paparazzi photographers. However, some celebrities, such as Sean Penn and Simon Cowell, are proud smokers.

  1. Film

    • Film stars who smoke include the Irish actor, Colin Farrell, who has appeared in "Minority Report" (2002) and "Miami Vice" (2006). Another leading male actor who smokes is Johnny Depp, who has starred in such films as "Edward Scissorhands" (1990) and "Pirates of the Caribbean" (2003). His co-star in the latter film, Orlando Bloom, is also a smoker. Some female film stars who smoke include Lindsay Lohan, "Mean Girls" (2004), and Cameron Diaz, the lead of actress of the hit comedy, "There's Something About Mary" (1998).

    TV

    • Jennifer Aniston, TV star of the hit series "Friends," is a smoker. The punctilious judge of the reality music show "American Idol," Simon Cowell, is a smoker as well. Leonard Nimoy, most famously known as Spock on the hit TV series "Star Trek," is known to enjoy cigarettes infrequently. The British TV star and pop musician Billie Piper (star of the television series "Doctor Who") is also known to be a smoker.

    Music

    • The British singer Amy Winehouse, who had a hit album with 2006's "Back in Black," is known to be a habitual smoker. The Canadian pop singer Avril Lavigne is also a smoker. Puff Daddy, or P Diddy, an American rapper and record producer, is also a smoker. Puff Daddy was once rumored to have had a relationship with another smoker and singer, Jennifer Lopez. Another rapper who smokes is Snoop Doggy Dog.

    Other

    • Some famous fashion models who smoke include Kate Moss, a British model known for her Calvin Klein ads, and Naomi Campbell, another British model who was one of the most recognizable models of the late 1980s and early 1990s. American socialite and great-granddaughter of the founder of Hilton hotels, Paris Hilton, is also a known cigarette smoker. However, perhaps the most famous person known to smoke cigarettes on occasion is the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama.
