Ways for People to See Auras
Mystics of various cultures have long believed that everything emanates a field of energy. The Chinese referred to it as "chi," Indians called it "prana" and Western societies depicted it in religious artwork as halos. This energy field is known today as the "aura." Some spiritual people believe the aura manifests as lights and colors surrounding every object or being, and that under the right circumstances you can see actually it.

Objective Method
-
One way to see the aura is with your physical eyes. The best conditions for aura viewing occur in soft or dim light, when the eye is relaxed and the gaze is unfocused. In these conditions, you may begin to perceive a light, glow or tint of color surrounding things in your field of vision.
The eye generally needs training to be able to see the aura better. There are nerve fibers in the eye that, when stimulated, release chemicals that help you detect more of a variety of hues and intensity. Ted Andrews, author of "How to See and Read the Aura," claims eye muscle strengthening exercises can help you learn to improve and control your ability to see colors better, thus enabling you to detect auric fields with more acuity.
Intuitive Method
-
The intuitive method of aura viewing relies more on the mind than the eyes. With this method, you sense the energy field, rather than physically see it. You can learn to visualize the colors and intensity of the aura by learning to intuit the vibration and frequencies of the energy field on which you focus. This is similar to how a thermal imaging camera picks up temperature fluctuations and interprets them as colors. Practicing meditation can help train your mind to relax and reach a relaxed state of awareness that is conducive to sensing energy.

Aura Photography
-
Aura imaging technology is not a new concept; it dates back to 1939 when Semyon Kirlian, a teacher and journalist, discovered a method of high voltage imaging photography he believed captured the auric field. You can purchase aura photography equipment, or you can visit an aura photographer to have your auric field photographed and printed for you. Taking a series of aura photos can show changes in the auric field, which is believed to fluctuate based on health, mood and energy level.
Benefits
-
While seeing auras may be considered an interesting idea or a neat party trick, there are actually practical reasons to work on your ability to see auras. They can help you assess the intentions and mental state of any stranger who might approach you, or the mood and emotions of the people around you so that you can be more sensitive toward others.
Spiritual people have long believed that the auric field reveals imbalances, illnesses and other health-related issues in the body. If believers are correct, some day scientists may learn to detect the aura, and the ability could potentially become a life saving diagnostic tool.
