By adding money to your PlayStation Network (PSN) account, you can download games, add-ons, music, movies and more. Several payment options are available to PSN users. One of these options is using a debit card. Using your debit card allows you to deduct the money directly from your checking account. If you know how to add funds using a credit card, the procedure is no different. If you don't, the procedure is simple to learn.
Start your PlayStation 3 console. Wait for the title screen to load before the system takes you to the desktop. If you have auto-sign on enabled, the console will sign you in to the PlayStation network automatically. If not, use the controller to scroll to the “Network” icon on the right. Scroll up until you see your PSN ID. Highlight the icon for your ID and press “X.”
The PlayStation wallet is an online file where you store funds to purchase items from the PlayStation store. To access the wallet, scroll all the way to the right and select "Account Management." Select "Add Funds." Select "Credit Card." From here, you can add your debit card information.
Entering Your Debit Card
Use the onscreen keyboard to enter your debit card number. Highlight each appropriate number or letter using the left thumbstick and confirm your selection by pressing “X.” Follow this procedure to enter your debit card number, the expiration date and the security code on the back of the card. Once confirmed, select the amount of money you want to add from your debit card to the wallet.
Once your debit card is accepted, you can now purchase items from the PlayStation Store. Press the “O” button until you are back at the main menu. Scroll to the left and highlight the PlayStation Store icon. Press the “X” button to enter the store. From here, browse movies, music and games. Each item has a price listed. Use the funds from your wallet to purchase the items of your choice. Your debit card is charged when the funds are added to your wallet even if you do not purchase right away.
