The iPhone 4 brought a great deal of extra functionality that was not previously available in other versions of the iPhone. If you are just getting started with your iPhone 4, you may be unsure of how to use it effectively. Keeping a few tips in mind can help you get the most out of your new phone.
When you get your iPhone, you will be tempted to use it often. The user-friendly interface makes it very appealing and you can run the battery down rather quickly. While the iPhone 4 battery lasts longer than its predecessors, it can still run down if you are using it constantly. With the iPhone, you need to plug it in and charge it as frequently as possible. The lithium ion battery in the phone can be charged at any time without having to worry about running it down all the way first.
In previous versions of the iPhone, the screen orientation would change depending on how you were holding the phone. If you held the phone sideways, the screen would twist sideways so you could read with a wider screen. With the iPhone 4, you can lock the screen orientation depending on your preference. To lock the screen orientation, you can double-click on the home button and a menu will come up at the bottom of the screen. Scroll the menu to the left and a button with a circular arrow on it will appear. When you click on this icon, it will lock the screen orientation.
With the iPhone 4, you can easily save pictures that you find online or you can save anything that is on your screen as a screen shot. If you are surfing the Internet and you find an image that you want to keep, you can simply touch and hold the image. You can then click on "Save Image" on the menu that comes up. If you see something on your screen that you want to keep, just tap the "Home" button and the "Power" button at the same time to save a screen shot.
When you get an iPhone 4, you must take the necessary steps to protect it. This is an expensive phone and you do not want to damage it or have any of your information on it compromised. With the iPhone 4, you can set a password lock so that no one else can access your phone. You can go to "Settings" then "General" and you will be given the opportunity to set a password lock. You should also consider getting a case for your phone to protect it from being dropped. Keep the iPhone away from water as this can significantly damage your phone quickly as well.
