Professional Project Managers
Professional project managers just entering the field can earn the Certified Associate Project Manager credential as an entry-level certification to improve job prospects in the field. The CAPM certification demonstrates to employers that the candidate has the skills and qualifications to work in a project management position. To obtain the credential, the candidates must meet eligibility requirements and pass a 150 multiple-choice question examination. The project manager must be familiar with project management terminology and practices in the field.
To qualify to take the certification examination, candidates must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Project Management Institute also requires candidates to have a minimum of 1,500 hours of experience in a project management role. Candidates with at least 23 hours of project management education from a training program qualify for the examination without meeting the experience requirement.
