Unique Solutions for Money Problems
When money problems arise, panic can set in as the bills pile up and the debt collectors begin calling. When it's not possible to take on a second job or ask for a raise at work, you'll need an outside-of-the-box solution to escape your money problems. Fortunately, there are a variety of unusual solutions.
-
Cut Expenses
-
Even when you've already cut non-essentials like cable television and gym memberships, it may be possible to further reduce your bills. Start cutting coupons to slash your grocery bill without giving up any of the little treats you love. Look in your newspaper circular and online for coupons to save on the grocery items you need. Double up on coupons for extra savings. You can also find coupons for everything from carpet steam cleaning to eye exams and glasses.
Ditch the Car
-
This may sound like a scary proposition if you use your vehicle on a daily basis. However, ditching your car doesn't necessarily mean going without wheels. Consider carpooling to work or using the local transportation system. Alternately, trade in your gas guzzler for an inexpensive, super fuel efficient scooter. Depending on where you live, you may also be able to skip out on insuring your scooter, eliminating one bill altogether.

Get Paid for What You Already Do
-
Do you religiously mow your loan on Sunday mornings? Before you get started, ask your neighbors if they'd like you to do their lawns too -- for a price, of course. Do you constantly blog about your life? Add some advertisements on your blog to make money off it. Do you help your daughter, or the neighbor's kid with her algebra? Get on Craigslist and offer your tutoring services for a fee.
Shop on Someone Else's Dime
-
Everyone has to shop. You can get paid to shop by becoming a secret shopper. These are people who take shopping "assignments" to rate stores' customer service. While there are legitimate companies that employ secret shoppers, there are also many secret shopper scams out there, so proceed with caution and thoroughly research any company offering you a secret shopper job before you accept.
Join a Medical Study
-
This is a way to kill two birds with one stone. You can receive free medical care and make some money. Look in your local newspaper's classifieds section for medical studies starting up soon. You'll have to meet certain qualifications, which vary by study. For instance, one study may require participants to be between the age of 18 and 25 and in perfect health, while another may be looking for participants with asthma or another medical condition.
