List of Places That Give Driving Tests in Dallas, Texas

A driving test is a crucial part of your application for a Texas driver's license. Residents of the Lone Star State can take the road test at a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) office in Dallas. Although the city has three DPS offices, the driving test is available only at the East Dallas and southwest Dallas locations.

East Dallas

  • The East Dallas DPS office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except on Wednesdays, when it is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • The southwest Dallas DPS office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, except on Wednesdays, when it is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Necessary Materials

  • To apply for a Texas driver's license and take the exam, you must provide proof of Social Security number. You must also provide a vehicle in which to take the driving test, as well as auto insurance and registration for the vehicle. You need a completed driver's license application from the DPS website and cash or a check to cover the fee. Credit cards aren't accepted.
