Cute Girl Room Ideas for Preteens

Save

Preteen girls are at a turning point in their lives. They may no longer love everything in their rooms to be hot pink and covered with the fads they were once into. Involve your preteen in the transformation of her room decor so she feels that her ideas matter. Get a feel for her new style, but know that she may change her mind in a few years when those teen years come around.

Calming Escape

  • Use white to create a calming escape for your preteen. Now that she is older and more responsible, she can handle white better and not decide to smear chocolate on her sheets...hopefully. White sheets, curtains and a thick white area rug will make her feel calm and safe. You can mix the white with another soothing color, such as pale blue, caramel, pastel green, or light pink. Colored accents can be in a lampshade, wall decals and pillows.

Hobby Room

  • A hobby room is something preteens tend to like because they are starting to form their own likes and dislikes of the world. This could also be called a career room. If she loves animals, decorate the room with her favorites. Use animal wall decals, animal sheets and an animal toychest to use this cute girl room idea for your preteen. Try not to overdo it because she may change her mind in a few years. Just a splash of decor here and there. Sit down with your daughter, and help her choose a hobby room of her own.

Updated Princess Room

  • She's still your princess, but she may not enjoy all of the pink decorations in her room anymore. That's okay, because you can tone it down for an updated princess room. See if you can reuse some things as different decorations and donate the rest to Goodwill. Frame an old princess outfit for a new decoration, for example. Use shadowboxes to show off her old princess toys. Bring her along to donate the rest of the unwanted items.

Art Room

  • Another cute girl's room idea for preteens is an art room. Add an easel, canvas and supplies for artwork. Classical music from a radio will help her concentrate. Add a bookcase with books on how to draw and how to write. Keep her desk stocked with writing supplies so she can journal and write to her heart's content. This shouldn't be in her bedroom as she'll likely start something in the middle of the night. It should be a separate room. Design and decorate it, and set her loose to create.
