Easy Decoupage Ideas
Create an array of easy home and garden décor projects using decoupage medium and your choice of decorative paper. Decoupage medium is an adhesive, but it also protects the finished projects with a glossy, glittery, matte, textured or satin finish. Select the type of decoupage medium that best suits your design style from local craft stores.

Tray
-
Decorate an unfinished wooden or metal tray using strips of ribbon and decoupage glue. Spray paint the tray in a color to coordinate with your choice of ribbon and let it dry. Measure and cut the ribbon strands to line the inside platform of the tray. Available design choices include covering the platform, spacing the ribbon strips to make a striped platform, or bordering the platform with the ribbon. Apply the decoupage medium to the tray, then press the ribbon strips into the glue. Coat the ribbons with several layers of decoupage medium; allow the glue to dry at least one hour between coats.
Box
-
Cover the outside of a cardboard shoe box or a finished wood box with strips of tissue paper or glossy magazine images to make a treasure chest or decorative storage. Tear the strips of paper into manageable strips or pieces; get creative with words to create your own phrases for the box. Apply the decoupage medium in small sections at a time, press the paper into it, and then smooth the displaced glue on top of the paper. After the first coat of decoupage glue dries, apply several more thin layers of decoupage glue to protect the project. Allow the glue to dry between coats.

Wall Art
-
Another easy decoupage project is a wall art collage. Select any size artist's canvas from the craft store, tear decorative tissue paper, magazine images or photos into small sections, and then attach them to the canvas with decoupage medium. Paint the canvas first with acrylics or spray paint if the background will be visible.
Garden Art
-
Layers of decoupage glue protect the paper materials so you can create easy projects for outdoor decorations. Recycle magazines into a distinctive outdoor table top with decoupage medium. Use the same process to decorate a wooden planter or refurbish an old fence post.
Jewelry
-
Decorate unfinished wooden bangle bracelets with strips of patterned tissue paper and decoupage glue. Finish the inside and the outside of the bangle in sections. Coat the completed bracelet with several layers of decoupage medium to add a glossy shine.
