A water well is made to access groundwater for drinking and other purposes. A large tunnel goes deep into the ground to reach the aquifer. It's important to cover the well for safety purposes, but well covers do not have to be unattractive. There are many creative ways you can hide a water well. Rather than be an eyesore, a decorative cover makes a water well the focal point in any landscape design.
Cover your well with an artificial rock. Some artificial rocks are made specifically for this purpose. Large stones are often used in landscape design to add dimension. An artificial rock is less expensive than a real landscape rock and has a dual purpose. It not only adds to the overall landscape plan, but also safely covers the well. Surround the rock with flowers or other stones to tie it into the landscape design.
Wrought Iron Well Cover
Wrought iron covers safely cover the well in a decorative fashion. The covers are created in a variety of styles. Many exhibit floral designs or scroll shapes. Cut-out images are on some, such as the image of a rabbit or flower. Well overthrows placed on the cover adds a decorative touch. The overthrow forms a wrought-iron arch over the well. Some consist of a hook from which you may hang a flower basket.
A small wishing well with a pitched roof and bucket complements the cottage garden. It adds a touch of romance and creates a focal point in the garden. Cover the opening with a decorative wrought iron cover for safety purposes. Surround the wishing well with flowering plants and extend a garden walkway to it.
Set a wrought-iron cover over the top of the well and place a large gardening bucket on top filled with a variety of native flowering plants. Surround the well with potted plants and decorative landscape buckets in a variety of sizes holding green and flowering plants. This turns the well into an eye-catching garden. The variety of sizes, materials and plants turns it into a visually appealing focal point.
