Musical Nursery Themes
If you yourself are a music lover, a music-themed nursery offers you a variety of interesting visuals to create the right nursery for your baby. From vintage items to the latest musical fad, a musical motif exists for just about any music style. You'll find the items to decorate your home with local music stores as well as flea markets, garage sales and even in your own attic. The result of your efforts will give your baby her first foray into the world of music. Does this Spark an idea?

Music Note Stencils
-
The ability to read and write music may be one of the musician's greatest assets; with this skill, she can create symphonies that fill concert halls. Introduce this key musical element into your baby's room by painting musical note stencils throughout the room. Paint music notes that dance up the wall beside your baby's crib, and decorate the back of the rocker and paint music notes on the door jambs and windowsills. For a classical look, stick with black and whites instead of colors for your music notes.
Shadowboxes and Music Boxes
-
No music-themed nursery would be complete without music and musical instruments. You can bring these elements into your nursery in a couple of ways. Start collecting different music boxes before your baby is born, and ask friends to give you music boxes as baby shower presents. Set up a special shelf for the music boxes. Look for both antique music boxes as well as newer styles, including cartoon character music boxes. Additionally, you can extend the theme to your wall by creating some music-themed shadowboxes. Buy shadowbox kits from the local craft or stationary store. Fill them with the CDs of your favorite music stars along with the miniature musical instrument ornaments that people hang on their Christmas tree each year; these offer you a variety of instruments, including drums, harps and horns.

Sheet Music
-
Use old sheet music to make music-themed decoupage. Sheet music is more than useful; some musical scores are actually quite beautiful to look at. Take advantage of this by collecting some pieces of old sheet music and using them to make decoupage designs for your baby's room. Make furniture that features a musical design by decoupaging sheet music to items like the night or changing table, the rocking chair, the knobs of the dresser and the garbage can. If you find sheet music that you love but can't bear to glue it onto your furniture, have the sheet music scanned into your computer using a flatbed scanner and then print it out on pretty stationary (see Resources).
Old Records
-
Nothing brings back memories of the vintage music styles of the 1930s, '40s and '50s like the old vinyl records. Although they're not made anymore, you can find these music-themed decorating must-haves at estate sales, flea markets and secondhand stores. Buy up a collection of them, and create some musical accessories for your baby's room. Frame them and make artwork out of them. Hang them above your window to create a valance. Make a set of bowls by heating the records and creating a bowl shape by inserting the heated record into a bowl and pressing down. Store items from your baby's dresser in the bowls.
