Angel Luncheon Ideas
One fun idea for a luncheon is to have a theme. You could celebrate the food of the city where you live, serve the luncheon honoree's favorite kind of food or use angels as your inspiration. An angel luncheon is a creative idea that gives you several delicious options for how to interpret the theme. Does this Spark an idea?

Literal Fare
-
Fruit-topped angel food cake is the perfect dessert. Use foods that have the word "angel" in them. Serve angel hair pasta with vegetables in pesto sauce, angel hair pasta with chicken in Alfredo sauce and angel food cake topped with fruit and whipped cream. Or use angel-shaped cookie cutters to make angel-shaped foods. Cut the shape out of bread, cold cuts, lettuce leaves and cheese slices to make angel sandwiches. For dessert, serve angel-shaped cookies and brownies or apple and pear slices, or bake an angel-shaped cake or cupcakes.
Angelic Cuisine
-
Put holy ham sandwiches and choir coleslaw on the menu. One simple way to celebrate angels is to use angel-related terms to name your dishes. A casual backyard menu could be halo hot wings, seraphim sausage-on-a-stick, blessed bratwurst, cherub chips with divine dip, flying fruit salad and archangel ice cream. For a ladies' church luncheon, serve holy ham sandwiches, angel egg sandwiches, spiritual salami sandwiches, choir coleslaw, celestial Caesar salad, messenger macaroni salad, guardian graham cracker pie and winged white chocolate mousse. Before eating begins, announce the names of each heavenly dish, or place little placards by each dish so guests can see the food's angelic name.

White Idea
-
Tasty white chocolate parfaits are an eye-catching end to an all-white meal. Angels are often depicted with white wings and wearing white robes. Incorporate this color concept into your angel luncheon by serving nothing but white foods. At a formal affair, serve baked fish with a side of Gouda cheese grits and vanilla bean cheesecake for dessert. At a very formal affair, offer choice of pork chops over Parmesan cheese polenta, white asparagus and white chocolate parfaits or baked chicken breasts over white bean puree, cauliflower and blancmange.
Opposite Idea
-
Offer choice of grilled fish or roast beef. Another technique is an angel-devil luncheon. Present both a low-calorie and also a more indulgent food option. For example, protein choices can be light grilled fish or succulent roast beef; vegetables can be healthy steamed garden veggies or rich buttery corn; sides can be brown rice or twice-baked potatoes; breads can be whole-wheat rolls or biscuits; desserts can be spiced peach slices with a dollop of low-fat whipped cream or decadent chocolate cake with fudge icing; and beverages can be diet soda or sweet tea. Explain to guests that they can either listen to the angel on one shoulder or indulge the devil on the other.
