Boost employee moral by introducing games into the office environment.

Keeping office morale up is important for any business owner or manager. Employees are the ones that work on the front lines all day long. Boosting their moral and lifting spirits helps cultivate dedicated workers and garners loyalty. There are a plethora of options available when looking for games for increasing morale in the office.

  1. Office Olympics

    • Create a sense of teamwork and camaraderie by hosting the office Olympics. Break up employees into groups representing different countries. Set up activity stations throughout the office for competition. Consider game options, such as who can throw the best paper airplane or playing Twister. Award the winning team by letting them leave early one Friday afternoon. Make this an annual event with the winners returning the next year and defending their title.

    Early Bird/Second Mouse

    • Improve office morale by using this icebreaker in the office. Divide employees into groups, giving them the statement, "The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese." Have each group prepare a presentation representing how this statement can be implemented effectively within the company. Teams must have input from each employee when giving the presentation. This will show employees how different strategies can be used for reaching the same goal.

    Bingo

    • Playing a few games of office bingo during the week is a practical and effective way of encouraging a break in the normal routine. Hand out bingo cards, then have employees take turns calling out numbers. Play until there are five winners, awarding prizes from the dollar store or consider buying lunch for the winners.

    Truth and Lies

    • Have employees introduce themselves in a group and give one true and one false statement about themselves. After each statement is made the group decides which statement is truth and which one is not. This game should generate laughter and group interaction and reveal hidden talents while also encouraging creative thinking.
