October Baby Shower Themes
Celebrating the birth of a new baby is a tradition that can be traced back hundreds of years. Victorian women would organize tea parties for expectant mothers, in a similar celebration to our modern baby showers. Today, baby showers are often themed, with invitations and decorations to match. There are many different themes including ones that are based around a month. Consider an October theme if your baby shower as a fun alternative to traditional pink and blue-themed showers.

Seasonal Colors
-
Theme your baby shower around colors that are seasonal to October. In the northern hemisphere, use colors that are found in fall leaves, such as different shades of orange, yellow, brown and red. In the southern hemisphere, use colors that represent spring, such as light greens, yellows, pinks and blues. Accessorise with fall leaves or fresh-cut spring flowers.
Pumpkins
-
Decorate the baby shower with different sized pumpkins. Carve images of things like baby bottles, diapers and pacifiers into the pumpkins and place them around the room. Buy or make your own Jack O'Lanterns and decorate the venue with different sized pumpkins. Make pumpkin pie and pumpkin shaped cookies and snacks to compliment the decorations. Complete the theme by accessorizing with orange and black table decorations and flowers.

Candy
-
Candy is given away in October during trick-or-treating, and makes a fun and tasty theme for a baby shower. Choose chocolate colored streamers, banners and confetti to decorate with. Scatter candy on tables and in decorative bowls. Buy candy in the shape of pacifiers and babies bottles, or find candy marketed for children. Create a centre piece using a chocolate fountain and let guests dip fruit and candy in it.
Halloween
-
Use Halloween decorations to create a spooky baby shower. Decorate the venue with iconic Halloween images such as jack o'lanterns, black cats, witches, monsters and ghosts. Draw cobwebs on the baby banner and decorate with balloons that have Halloween images printed on them. Make a clothes line across the room and hang baby Halloween costumes from it. Find images of babies dressed-up in pumpkin or monster outfits and decorate the walls with them to complete the theme.
