Pac-Man Games for Kids

The basic premise of "Pac-Man" is the same regardless of the age of the player. The player's character, Pac-Man, is in a maze full of dots. He has to run around and eat the dots while avoiding the ghost or ghosts who are trying to eat him. Several versions of free "Pac-Man" games are online, and all are appropriate for children.

  1. "Pac-Man"

    • The original arcade game version has one simple maze. Sometimes fruits like cherries, strawberries or apples will show up on the screen, which are worth bonus points if the character eats them. The maze has four large dots in the corners. They're worth extra points, and eating them turns the ghosts blue for a few seconds. In that time, Pac-Man can eat them for bonus points. There is no blood when Pac-Man gets "eaten." He just vanishes and a new Pac-Man replaces him.

    "Pac-Xon"

    • "Pac-Xon" is a variation where Pac-Man has to fill in lines and trap the ghosts. The player must travel from one side of the screen to the other without the ghosts touching either Pac-Man or the line behind him. Once the character reaches the other side, the line fills in. If no ghosts are on one side of the line, the lines between that line will also fill in. Eating a cherry causes Pac-Man to move faster. Eating a banana will cause the ghosts to move slower, and eating a glowing yellow ball will allow Pac-Man to eat the ghosts.

    "PacMan Platform"

    • The character must jump from platform to platform to get the yellow dots in this game. There are still large glowing dots that can make the ghosts vulnerable to Pac-Man, but he can also jump over the ghosts. The goal of each level is to reach the wooden platforms. A successful trip transports Pac-Man to the start of the next level.

    Mad Pac Underwater

    • The original "Ms. Pac-Man" game is also suitable for children. It does require more strategy than the original because the mazes change and the fruits have to be chased down. Ms. Pac-Man makes an appearance in "Mad Pac Underwater" as a kidnapping victim. The ghosts have taken her to an underwater world. Pac-Man has to rescue her without running out of air. Besides avoiding the ghosts and popping bubbles for air, Pac-Man must avoid running into obstacles like spikes and electric fence.
