What Kind of Makeup Do Lady Pirates Wear for Halloween?

A lady pirate costume can bring to mind a number of images. The type of costume, as well as the type of makeup that you wear, will depend on the type of character that you are attempting to create. Once you have made this determination put together a costume that will be enhanced by the makeup that you apply.

  1. Attractive

    • The pretty female pirate might have a touch of sun glow and some subtle, yet attractive features. Apply a foundation to your face evenly. Use a makeup brush and some powder bronzer on your cheeks, nose, forehead and chin, applying the bronzer lightly. Apply black eyeliner below the bottom lashes and behind the lashes on the top lids. For an exaggerated eye, allow the stroke on the bottom to slightly streak out past the eye using the eyeliner brush. Define your eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil, then apply light brown eye shadow to the eyelids, followed by a white highlight eye shadow just below the eyebrows. Use lipstick in the shade that you desire on your lips. Then add a beauty mark, or mole, to the side of the upper lip using your eyeliner and eyeliner brush.

    Grungy

    • If you want the grungy female pirate look, apply foundation to your face in a shade that matches your own. Use a makeup sponge to apply light brown cream shadow to your jaw line, the sides of your nose and below the cheekbones. Apply a medium brown cream shadow with a makeup sponge to your eyelids. Define your eyebrows with eyebrow pencil and apply black eyeliner below your bottom lashes and above your top lashes. Powder your face completely with translucent powder. Then apply liquid tooth blackener to one of your front teeth.

    Scarred

    • Perhaps you want to portray the female pirate who has that distinctive knife-fight scar across her cheek or on her forehead? Apply your basic makeup. Then, prior to the application of any powder to set the makeup, use a makeup sponge and liquid latex to create your scar. Dab the liquid latex on the area of your face where you want the scar. As you apply the latex keep in mind the type of scar that you want to create. For example, a knife scar would be long. Allow the first application of latex to dry, then apply a second layer of latex over the first. Before the second layer dries, indent the latex down the middle with the edge of the makeup sponge, then allow it to dry. Apply foundation over the latex. Use a stipple sponge and carefully dab over the entire scar surface with a medium brown cream shadow. Do the same thing with purple cream shadow, followed by red cream shadow. Apply translucent powder over the entire scar to set the makeup. Then drizzle stage blood into the scar indentation.

    Evil

    • Apply foundation over your entire face. Use a black eyebrow pencil to draw on and over your eyebrows, arching your eyebrows into a point in the center and fill in the entire brow with the pencil. Apply black liquid eyeliner below your bottom eyelashes, as well as behind your top lashes. Allow the ends of both lines to trail off toward your hairline. Apply dark brown cream shadow to your eyelids with a sponge and highlight below your eyebrows to accentuate your eyes. Use deep red lipstick to color in your lips. Accentuate the shape of your lips by outlining them with a lip pencil one shade darker than your lip color. Swipe both cheeks with a dry bronzer and a makeup brush. Apply gold tooth paint to one of your front teeth. Then dab a dot of liquid latex on your chin, using two coats. Before the second coat dries, insert a few strands of black crepe hair into the latex so that the hair protrudes from the latex. Once the latex dries color it in with black eyeliner.
