Small Business Grants for Women to Expand an Existing Business

Many grants are aimed at assisting women in expanding an existing business. Most grants require women entrepreneurs to attain a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status before their business can be considered eligible for grant funds. Many grants are also based on the need a business is designed to address.

  1. WHO Foundation (Women Helping Others)

    • The Women's Funding Network funds more than 160 organizations as of 2011. Funded organizations include public charities, private foundations, and community foundations. The Women's Funding Network is one of the largest philanthropic networks in the world. The network funds organizations that focus on a wide range of issues affecting women, including social justice, poverty, financial empowerment and even global security.

    Chicago Women's Foundation

    • Established in 1985, the Chicago Women's Foundation has been providing funding and resources to organizations aimed at improving the lives of women. The goal of the foundation is to increase the likelihood that girls and women will reach their full potential in life. The focus of the organization lies in women's advocacy, leadership development, and public grantee education. Typical grant amounts range between $15,000 and $50,000.
