Children's Life Verse Ideas
Many Christians look to the Bible as a source of hope and inspiration. Some will choose a specific verse to memorize and use for daily living. They call this verse their "life verse." Some Christian parents also choose a life verse for their child. They teach their child the verse, say the verse as they pray for their children and aim to raise their children in faith. The Bible has many verses appropriate for children.

Wisdom
-
Philippians 1:9-11 says, "And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God." Parents can pray this verse for their children and hope they continue to adhere to these standards as they grow up.
Another verse about wisdom is Proverbs 2:6-7. This verse says, "For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk uprightly." Parents can teach this verse to their children to encourage them to continue to seek wisdom as they grow.
Daily Living
-
Colossians 3:23 can be used to help teach children to have a strong work ethic. It says, "And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men." Children who have this verse as a life verse can grow up with the idea that there is a greater purpose to their work.
A verse that can help children to go about their daily activities with a positive attitude is Philippians 2:14, which says, "Do everything without grumbling or arguing."

Trusting God
-
As your children grow, they will inevitably have to make tough decisions and choices. Many parents feel that teaching their children Proverbs 3:5-6, which says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths" can help give them guidance, comfort and direction.
Philippians 4:6-7 says, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Many parents who chose this verse for their child do so in hopes that their child will grow up choosing to pray and ask God for help when times get tough.
The Future
-
Most parents and children want to feel hopeful about the future. Teaching your child a life verse about the future can help him to look to God when things are uncertain. Two verses that may help in this area are Jeremiah 29:11, which says, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,'" and Psalm 121:3, which says, "He will not let your foot slip -- he who watches over you will not slumber."
