Alcohol and chocolate go hand in hand when it comes to desserts.

Alcohol is a common ingredient used in the kitchen. Wine is sometimes added to sauces, beer can come in handy with barbecued meat, and liquor can give an extra kick to desserts. Chocolate and alcohol seemingly go well together, as there are a number of recipes which combine the two in a delicious dessert. As the majority of the alcohol evaporates during preparation of the dish, these desserts are no threat to children or pregnant women. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Arizona Pecan Chocolate Rum Pie

    • The recipe for this pie published by Recipes 4 All says you must first mix the 1/4 tsp. of salt, 1 cup of flour and 1/2 cup of lard. Roll that out with a rolling pin and place it in the baking pan you plan to use. Melt one and a half chocolate bars with 3 tbsp. of butter and leave it to cool down. Combine 3/4 cups of corn syrup, sugar and three eggs. Add the chocolate mixture, 1 1/4 cup of pecans, 1 tbsp. of vanilla extract and spike it with 1 tbsp. of rum. Put in a baking pan and bake for an hour.

    Rum Chocolate Cake

    • Cakes are fairly easy to make if you only follow the instructions precisely. According to My Recipes, you should combine butter, sugar, eggs and rum, and beat until you get a smooth mixture. In a separate bowl, combine flour, 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa, 1 tsp. of baking powder, 1 tsp. of baking soda, 1/2 tsp. of salt and 1/8 tsp. of nutmeg. Put the flour mixture in the chocolate mixture and add 1 cup of hot water and stir until the mixture is perfectly. Put in a baking pan and bake for 27 minutes. The cake should chill for at least an hour before served.

    Chocolate Boozy Ice Cream

    • According to the recipe by Recipe 4 All, you should first put together seven egg yolks and 1 cup of sugar. After you do that, put 1 cup of cream, 2 cups of milk and a vanilla bean over medium heat until in boils. Take the vanilla bean out and add the egg yolk and sugar mixture. Strain the mass through a cheesecloth and melt three-fourths of a chocolate bar in a water bath. Add the cream mixture and strain again. Add whiskey at the end and put everything in the ice-cream maker. This recipe isn't suitable for children or pregnant women.

    Irish Truffles

    • Irish truffles are very easy to make, and you can spike them with as much alcohol as you want. According to the recipe by Recipe Source, you should melt 12 semi-sweet chocolate morsels in a water bath, and stir in 1/4 cup of Baileys and 1/4 cup of cream. Continue mixing in two egg yolks, but do so one at a time. Add 1 tbsp. of butter and put in the fridge over-night. Use a spoon to make small balls, which you can then roll in sugar, cocoa, nuts or coconut.
