Christians should be busy people. They should be in the business of worship, evangelism, fellowship and service. As a leader of a dynamic group of Christians, you are in a position to help guide these people in their spiritual lives. Learn how to plan events which will enrich Christian lives as you and your group give thanks to God for allowing you to do His work.

  1. Prayer Plans

    • Get your group together to not only pray but to make prayer plans. Ask each member of your group to write on a note card the name of each non-believer he wants to reach out to and the specific needs of that person. Collect the cards and give each member several cards. Request that they pray for those people.

    Devotionals

    • Plan monthly devotionals for your group. Pick a night when your members are a likely to be available and relaxed, such as a Friday. Choose a Biblical message to present at each devotional. Lead your group in songs and prayer to keep their focus. Invite guest speakers to preach occasionally at your monthly devotional.

    Physical Activities

    • Don't neglect the fun and exercise provided by physical activities for your group. Plan picnics with pickup touch football games, Frisbee and kayaking in a lake. Colder weather ideas include the old standbys of bowling and skating, plus newer popular activities such as laser tag and choreographed group dances. Ask your members for their ideas.

    Productions

    • Lead your Christian group in putting on skits and plays for your congregation and the community. These can be simple one-act productions which explore the word of God or extravagant as full-on pageants which tell stories such as that of the Jesus' birth or the resurrection of Christ. You can also explore praise dancing and singing, which can be worship inspiring as well as entertaining.

    Testimony Sharing

    • As a leader you probably share your Christian testimony many times with your group. Allow your members to share their stories of redemption as well. This is only of the most inspiring, heartfelt and powerful ways each member can share with the group. Have tissues on hand when have a testimony sharing event. This is also a time to invite open, but non-believing, friends to visit.

    Evangelism

    • Another important role for you to take as leader is in the evangelistic efforts of your group. Get members together to make an effort to meet new people and invite them to your church. Knock on doors in members' neighborhoods to tell people about your church or hold a community festival at which you distribute literature describing the church and its events. You can ask local businesses to hand out church invitations to customers.

    Service Activities

    • One of the primary goals of Christians is to serve those in need. Your group can do this in many ways such as by giving blood, cleaning debris from storms from people's yards, bringing meals to the elderly and infirm and giving out clothes and personal hygiene items at homeless shelters. The group could make quilts and blankets to distribute to those in emergency situations like environmental disasters.
