Disney's Ariel Cake Ideas

Ariel is the lead character from Disney's animated movie "The Little Mermaid." This movie is much beloved by many little girls, so consider making a cake inspired by Ariel for the child in your life. There are lots of ways to create a cake with features taken from Ariel's character in "The Little Mermaid." Choose a cake that matches with your baking skill level so that you can ensure success. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Ariel Doll Cake

    • Use a plastic Ariel doll to make it look like Ariel is resting on top of a mound of sand. Bake a cake in an oven-safe mixing bowl so that you are left with a mound-shaped cake. When the cake has completely cooled, take your Ariel doll and remove the skirt from the lower half of her body. Leave her bikini top on. Insert Ariel feet first into the cake up to her waist. If your cake is too shallow, insert her diagonally so that her legs will fit. Frost the cake with tan frosting so that it looks like sand. Use green frosting to create her tail on the cake so that it looks like she is sitting. With a pastry bag, pipe ocean shapes onto the sand mound, such as a starfish, a seashell or a crab.

    Ocean Cake

    • Bake a layered cake using round or square cake pans in graduating sizes. Stack the cakes with a layer of blue frosting between them. Frost all of the cakes with the blue frosting. Pipe fish, crabs, sand dollars, seashells and seaweed onto the cake using different colored frosting and a pastry bag. When you have an ocean scene piped onto the cake, complete it with the main event, Ariel. If you are comfortable piping a picture of Ariel onto the side of the cake, do that. Otherwise, place an Ariel doll or figurine onto the top of the cake.

    Ariel Cake Pan

    • Sometimes, an inexperienced baker might want to create a theme cake. If that is the case, purchase a cake pan that is shaped like the mermaid. This cake pan will be molded in the shape of Ariel so that you simply have to pour the cake batter inside the cake pan, bake the cake and then remove it from the pan. Once you have the Ariel shape, use frosting to make the cake look even more like the mermaid.

    Cupcakes

    • Cupcakes are an easy alternative to cakes. Bake a batch of cupcakes and frost them with blue icing so that they look like the ocean. Place a plastic ring with a picture of Ariel on it on the top of each cupcake. You could also use a cookie shaped like Ariel or an Ariel figurine to top the cupcakes. Be sure to wash the rings or figurines thoroughly before placing them on top of the cupcakes.
