Tricks for Memorizing ACLS Algorithms
Memorizing things can be quite difficult to do, but if you know a few good tricks, you can easily commit to memory whatever you desire. You can use the same tricks you would use for memorizing the countries of the world to memorize Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) algorithms. ACLS algorithms are instructions designed to help you provide quick and effective life support for people in need.

According to California Polytechnic State University, "the first and most important rule" in trying to memorize things is keeping the thing you're trying to remember in mind. Don't look at the ACLS algorithms, attempt to commit it to memory, and then never think about it again. It's good to repeatedly visualize the equation over a long period of time. This will make it easier to remember it when you need it.
Mnemonics

Mnemonics can help you memorize many different things, including ACLS algorithms. According to Dictionary.com, a mnemonic is "something intended to assist the memory, as a verse or formula."
There are nine types of mnemonics: music, name, expression or word, model, ode or rhyme, note organization, image, connection and spelling mnemonics. With note organization mnemonics, you can create flashcards, or, with the ode or rhyme mnemonics, you can create a rhyme of the ACLS algorithms.

Another tip to increase your ability to memorize things is by using your memory. According to California Polytechnic State University, in studying things for memorization purposes, you should use approximately half of the time to use what you're studying. The same trick applies in memorizing ACLS algorithms. Consider practicing with a friend or family member. Have them pretend to have a stroke or be unconscious and use the ACLS algorithms, or guidelines to consider how you would help your friend in that situation.

Texas A&M University states that the fastest and simplest way to memorize things is through the Link System. The Link System uses your imagination, symbolism, sight and touch to connect things, such as ACLS algorithms, to vivid creations that are easy to remember.
Imagine each step of the ACLS algorithm with a positive strong sensory association that you won't forget. For example, to remember to check a person's throat for something that could be choking them, think of the popping sound of a champagne bottle, which is similar to the sound of something popping out of their throat.
