The ancient Egyptian culture can certainly be fascinating. There is much mystery surrounding the sand covered statues and ancient pyramids. There are many depictions of graceful, gold-adorned Egyptians on tomb walls and sarcophagi. Their depictions are so alluring, you may find yourself wanting to imitate their jewelry. If you want to make your own ancient Egyptian jewelry crafts, give it a go. It's pretty easy and most projects only require a few materials.

Beaded Collar Necklace

Egyptian collars were popular among the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt. Help your kids create their own versions of these collars using a few simple materials. You will need several beads of your choosing, string and a stretchy string that will allow you to slip on and off the collar easily. Tie a knot in one end of the stretchy string. Slide beads onto the string, then tie the two ends together. In between every two to three beads, tie a piece of string that hangs down vertically from the necklace. String beads onto the strings, then tie a knot in the end of the string once it's full.
Scarab Brooch

Scarabs were a type of beetle amulet that was sacred to the ancient Egyptians. Make your own scarab brooch using polymer clay, hot glue and a pin back. Find a picture of a scarab so you have something to go by. Check for sites that have pictures of ancient Egyptian scarabs. Once you have a picture, form your clay to resemble to scarab. You should bake your clay sculpture according to package directions. Once it has cooled off, hot glue your scarab to the back of your pin to create a lovely brooch.

Ankh Charm Bracelet

The ankh is an ancient Egyptian symbol that represents life. Many gods and goddesses are pictured holding this symbolic object. Create your own ankh charm bracelet and maybe it'll bring you good luck. Hand draw an ankh on a piece of cardboard. Make it fairly small in size since you are going to be wearing it as a charm. Use a straight edge to cut it out. Wrap the cardboard ankh with tin foil. Use a straight pin to create a hole at the top of the charm. Slide a piece of thread through the hole and tie the ends together to create a loop. You now have a ankh charm. Simply slide it onto any bracelet of your choosing to create your own ankh bracelet.
Eye of Ra Necklace

The Eye of Ra was considered to be a special amulet that protected the bearer from harm. Make your own Eye of Ra necklace using string and Shrinky Dink paper. You need to locate a picture of the Eye of Ra on your computer first. Load your printer with a piece of Shrinky Dink paper, then print out the picture. Cut out the picture using a pair of scissors. You'll need to punch a hole near the top of the picture somewhere. This hole allows you to string the amulet onto your necklace. Following the directions on the Shrinky Dink package, bake the picture until it shrinks down to size. Once it's done, take it out of the oven and allow it to cool before handling it. Loop a string through the amulet and string it onto any necklace of your choosing.
