How Much Do Welders & Fabricators Get Paid?

Save

Welders and fabricators work in most areas of manufacturing. Welders use extreme heat to permanently bond pieces of metal that will in turn create products. Fabricators assemble those parts to create whole goods such as cars, computers and household appliances. The amount of money welders and fabricators receive depends upon the type of industry in which they work.

Welders

  • On average, welders in the U.S. earned $36,630 as of May 2009, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Those working in architectural and structural metals manufacturing earn an average of $33,330 a year, while those working in agriculture, construction and mining machinery manufacturing earn an average of $35,610. The industry of motor vehicle body and trailer manufacturing offers an average salary of $33,330 to welders, and those working in other general purpose machinery manufacturing earn an average of $35,410.

Structural Metal Fabricators
