Marshmallows can be used in many Christian crafts.

Marshmallows are a delicious and inexpensive material for making crafts. They are commonly used in Christian Sunday school crafts, as you can buy a large amount of marshmallows for a small price. This means that more children can do the crafts for a relatively low price. There are different colors and sizes of marshmallows that you can use.

  1. Lamb of the Lord

    • Create a small herd of sheep with your Sunday school class. Use black construction paper to cut out the outline of sheep. Cover the face with peach-colored construction paper. Have students draw the face onto the sheep. Lay out a large bowl filled with small marshmallows for the kids to glue onto the body of the sheep. Remind them that they can not eat the marshmallows until after the craft is finished. Use white craft glue to secure the marshmallows in place. Once dry, kids can use markers to write their names on the marshmallows.

    Marshmallow Nativity

    • Near the Christmas holidays, you and your students can make miniature marshmallow nativity scenes. Make the base of your nativity scene using a half a bar of chocolate and a graham cracker. Stick a large golden pipe cleaner into the chocolate so that it forms a semi-circle. Make tiny people using two large marshmallows skewered onto a toothpick. Secure them in place with a little bit of the toothpick left over. Use another large marshmallow laid horizontally at the feet of the Mary and Joseph marshmallows for the Jesus marshmallow. Paint faces onto the marshmallows using acrylic paint. Add foam stars or other decorations for additional appeal.

    Empty Tomb Marshmallows

    • For Easter, make a pastry that will amaze your children. Unroll a store-bought tube of biscuits so that they are entirely flat. Place a bag of large marshmallows into a bowl for easy access. Place a marshmallow onto one corner of each roll. Wash and cover your hands with flour or butter to prevent the dough from sticking to your fingers as you roll it over the marshmallow. Pinch the sides of the dough together to entirely cover the marshmallow. Roll the dough in cinnamon sugar and place them onto wax paper. Place them in the oven for 15 minutes at 375 F. The marshmallow, symbolizing the body of Jesus inside the tomb (the biscuit), will "disappear" and shock your children.

    Golden Cross

    • You can make a beautiful, metallic cross from a bag of inexpensive large marshmallows. Use a pair of large wooden skewers for the strength and support of your cross. Cover one entire skewer with the delicious sugary confections. Place another skewer through the middle of the fourth marshmallow from the top. Cover this skewer from either end with marshmallows. Use a metallic acrylic paint, such as silver or gold, and cover the marshmallows carefully so that it leaves an even coat. Once the paint has dried, tie a colorful bow, such as purple, around the arms of the cross,
