Sword Drill
-
The Bible is "sharper than any two-edged sword." Many churches call the Bible a "sword." This comes from the Bible verse Hebrews 4:12, which states that the word of God is "sharper than any two-edged sword" (King James Version). For the Sword Drill game, write down several verses from the Bible on separate slips of paper. Give each player a Bible. The players will hold their Bibles with their right hands lifted over their heads. This gives each player the same amount of time to search for the verse when the round begins. Put the slips of verses in a jar and draw one from it. Read the verse and then say, "Go." The players will bring the Bible to eye level and begin looking for the verse. The first person who finds the verse and is able to point it out to you wins a point.
Bible Word Search
-
There are many free onlin eword search generator resources. Write down the words you want to use in a word search. For example, use the books of the Bible, names of New Testament Christians, titles of Christian songs or make it a question with the answer appearing only in the word search. Choose a website to help you create a word search (see Resources). Print one copy from your computer and then use a copy machine to make as many word-search pages as you need. Hand out the papers and give everyone five minutes to finish the game. The player with the most words circled wins a prize.

Scavenger Hunt
-
Before the game, hide a several items around the church for the players to find. Hide two of everything in the same place. Divide group into two teams. Give the teams separate starting points so they will not arrive at the same place at the same time. For instance, place two apples in the sanctuary and tell one team to look for an apple and return to you with one apple. The other team could be sent for paper clips in the kitchen and later look for the apple. Continue the game until one team wins by bringing you all the items on your list. This best works with adults because teens or children may run through the halls of the church and cause damage to the building.
Bible Tic-Tac-Toe
-
Play a basic game with a new twist. This game is played one on one using the simple game of tic-tac-toe. Have the group draw two names for who will play first. Before being able to place an X or an O on the board or paper, the player needs to correctly answer a Bible trivia question. If a question is answered incorrectly, that player will not be allowed to place an X or O on the paper. Come up with questions on your own or buy a Bible Trivia question-and-answer book. Alternatively, play this game tournament-style, with the winner of each game playing the next person until everyone has had a turn. Eventually there will be one ultimate winner.
