Dessert Tower Ideas
Dessert towers always make a great impression on guests. The art of transforming baked goods into a centerpiece is not as complicated as it looks and can be executed with a variety of recipes. You can make a dessert tower for a special event such as a wedding, or simply to dress up your table during the holidays. Does this Spark an idea?

Cupcakes
-
A simple way to create a dessert tower is with cupcakes. You can use an existing cupcake tray in the shape of a tower also known as the Wilton 4-tier dessert tray, which you can purchase in most kitchen supply stores or online. You can also make your own cupcake stand using thick cardboard or acrylic glass. Cupcake trays allow you to make a cupcake tower using your favorite recipes. Remember that when you have assembled the dessert tower with cupcakes on it, you should not move it around to avoid ruining your centerpiece by dropping the cupcakes.
Chocolate
-
To make a chocolate tower, use wrapped round chocolates that have a smooth center made of chocolate, caramel or fruit filling. Begin with a foam cone that has been covered with fabric, then use toothpicks to secure the chocolates to the cone. Start at the bottom and work your way up so the chocolate at the bottom can support the ones that will be affixed higher up. This dessert tower can be made ahead of time, and when done properly can be moved around easily without damaging it.

Macaroon
-
Whether you are making your own macaroons or buying them from your local patisserie, they can be used to make a very colorful dessert tower. Follow the same directions as with the chocolate tower.
Because some macaroons are very fragile due to their texture, be careful when piercing with a toothpick to avoid going through the cookie and damaging the side shown. The end of the toothpick should only be inserted halfway through the cookie.
If you are using colored macaroons to make your tower stand out, use a background fabric with a color opposite of your macaroon or with a pattern. This will also allow for your macaroon tower to remain a focal point even if your guests are eating some of the cookies.
Croquembouche
-
The croquembouche is a classic French dessert made up of profiteroles and drizzled with a sticky sugar glaze. The most difficult past of this desert is in the assembly because the profiteroles are simply stuck to each other, as opposed to leaning against a hard surface. Get a friend to help out, as a second pair of hands can hold the tower in place while the other person adds more profiteroles to the tower.
Bake 30 to 40 profiteroles according to your favorite recipe. Then, make a caramel sauce that is sticky enough to hold the profiteroles together. Assemble your profiteroles by starting at the bottom and working your way up. To make the profiteroles stick together, use the caramel sauce as your glue. Once your tower is complete, drizzle it with the remaining sticky sugar sauce.
