A 24 Hour Fitness instructor is an employee of the 24 Hour Fitness Health Club chain. Four hundred 24 Hour Fitness health clubs exist in the United States at this time. A fitness instructor is either a personal trainer or a group fitness instructor who leads personal or group exercise classes in cardiovascular training, weight lifting, yoga, karate or other specialized fitness classes. To become an instructor for 24 Hour Fitness, take a personal trainers course, learn to teach group fitness classes, attain a national certification and prepare yourself physically and mentally to help others achieve their fitness goals.

To be a fitness instructor at 24 Hour Fitness, you must be at least 18 years old and have your high school diploma or GED. According to the 24 Hour Fitness website, you must also prove you are legally able to work in the United States, and you must also agree to a background check if requested.

Get in shape. To be a personal trainer or teach group fitness classes, you need to be in top shape. While teaching classes, you need to be able to exercise and talk without being out of breath. Personal trainers need to model excellent physical fitness and form while training someone else to do the same.

Work out in the weight room and take group fitness exercise classes at a local health club, preferably 24 Hour Fitness so you can hear about training events and keep up to date on opportunities to become an instructor. Training and taking classes at 24 Hour Fitness will also allow you to get to know the group fitness coordinator, who may eventually hire you for a job.

Take a group fitness instructor course or personal trainer course. Many community colleges offer a semester-long course on how to become a fitness instructor.

Get comfortable performing and speaking in front of a group of people because you will have to use a wireless microphone headset to teach your classes in most 24 Hour Fitness Clubs. Group fitness instructors teach as many as 50 participants at one time and are "on stage" speaking and performing during their classes. Personal trainers need to be assertive and friendly to gain and retain clients.

Take a personal trainer or group exercise instructor training course and earn your certification. In the United States, you may become certified by the American Fitness Association of America (AFAA), American Council on Exercise (ACE) or the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Look up these national certification websites on the Internet to see if there are any training certifications in your area.

Earn your cardiopulmonary resuscitation training (CPR) certification, which is required for instructors who teach.

Choose the type of group fitness class you want to teach, and learn how to teach it. For example, if you want to teach step aerobics, take as many step classes as you can, and ask an experienced instructor to mentor you. Ask her how to create step combinations, how to teach to the musical beat and how to cue and instruct a class. Ask if you can teach 10 minutes of her class to improve your skills.

Go to the 24 Hour Fitness website and fill out the online application. Arrange for an interview with the group fitness/personal trainer coordinator.

Prepare yourself for an audition. To become a group fitness instructor or personal trainer at 24 Hour Fitness, be prepared to audition for the job. Prepare five-minute routines in all of the aspects you are interested in teaching.
