Coats and scarves are trendy looks for teens returning to school.

Style is, no doubt, a large part of many teens' lives, as they dress to impress their peers with the newest looks and accessories. If your teen is looking for a new look when he returns to school in the fall, allow him to express himself and experiment with different age-appropriate styles. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Layers

    • Layers are a unique way to show off your personal style while staying warm in the cooler fall temperatures. Layer sweaters on top of long-sleeved collared shirts or t-shirts, for example. Or, wear a faux-fur vest over a plain t-shirt for added flair. Likewise, boys can wear puff vests over a collared shirt for a sophisticated, yet casual look. Get your legs in on the layering action by layering different colored socks or knee-highs on top of each other for a fun look.

    Bright Colors

    • The return of fall doesn't mean the end of bright and fun colors. Add a pop of color to your fall wardrobe for a trendy and stylish look. Girls can wear brightly colored tights with their usual skirts or dresses to dress up their look, for example. Guys who are into the preppy look, on the other hand, can add a brightly colored ascot to their outfit for a pop of color. Or brightly colored watches, bracelets or earrings can add color to any outfit as well.

    Shoes and Accessories

    • Shoes for school should be hallway appropriate and easy to walk in. As such, girls can take advantage of wedged heels, platformed pumps, boots and flats to turn heads in the hallways. Guys, on the other hand, can wear sneakers that are both comfortable and stylish. In addition to improving your shoe collection for fall, consider adding chunky necklaces to a simple dress or a cocktail ring to liven up a simple jeans and t-shirt ensemble.

    Fall Coats

    • Make a statement when you return back to school with a bold coat. Choose a brightly colored military jacket to pair with jeans, skirts or dresses. Or, a double-breasted peacoat will go well with tights of any color or style and boots. Pleated coats are a dressier alternative to standard-cut coats, while belted coats will accentuate your figure. Plaid and checkered coats are also a fun alternative to solid-colored coats.
