List of Marvel Superheroes and Their Powers

The Marvel comic book universe is composed of hundreds of superheroes who possess different special abilities, looks and fighting styles. Some of the most popular Marvel heroes are in the Avengers, a group of heroes that work together to stop the evil forces of their fictional world. Whether with strength, flight or spiderwebs, each hero uses a unique set of powers to set himself apart in the Marvel universe.

  1. Daredevil

    • A freak accident caused Daredevil to become blind, but it heightened all his other senses to a superhuman degree. He can hear sounds four blocks away, use sound as a radar for "seeing" and perform martial arts moves.

    Spider-Man

    • Spider-Man can emit webs from his wrists or through cartridges, depending on which comic-book version he appears in. He has a "Spidey-Sense" that can detect motion and danger approaching. Small grips on his fingers allow him to climb walls and other structures. Spider-Man uses his spider agility to fly from building to building, and his body can tolerate extreme pain.

    The Hulk

    • Anger causes scientist David Banner to morph and grow into the Hulk. Banner grows to become massive in size and uses his physical strength and primal nature for pure destruction. The Hulk can withstand almost any attack, and he can leap vast distances. His body heals itself rapidly when it is damaged.

    Wolverine

    • The X-Men member has retractable metal claws that emerge from his knuckles as weapons. His body has super healing powers, which prevent damage to his skin and body when he is attacked. His skeleton is made of an indestructible metal named adamantium. Wolverine ages more slowly than ordinary humans and has superior strength.

    Captain America

    • This all-American superhero was injected with a super serum that pushes his body's abilities. He runs as fast as any human possible could and has the corresponding strength and intelligence to go with it. Captain America is trained in several forms of combat like kickboxing and judo, as well as gymnastic moves. He uses an indestructible shield that helps to protect him from harm and can be thrown as a weapon.

    The Silver Surfer

    • Coming from another universe, the Silver Surfer is composed of nearly indestructible matter. He uses a surfboard to glide through the air and can go faster than the speed of light. Silver Surfer obtains his abilities from the Power Cosmic, given to him from the super villain Galactus. The Surfer often uses his powers to heal injured humans.

    The Fantastic Four

    • The Fantastic Four, Marvel's first team of superheroes, are four astronauts who were transformed when an accident in space exposed them to Gamma rays. Mr. Fantastic can stretch his body in multiple directions and outward like silly putty. The Thing's body becomes a giant collection of rock that gives him super strength. The Human Torch can create and manipulate fire. The Invisible Woman can become invisible to the naked eye. When she touches another human or object, she can pass along the powers as long as they stay in contact.

    Ms. Marvel

    • Named after the comic company, Ms. Marvel can fly, use super strength and control energy. Her energy manipulation allows her to blast radiation through her fingertips and cause large explosions. Ms. Marvel absorbs energy such as electricity and uses it to attacks or to travel. When she absorbs enough energy, Ms. Marvel can control gravity and increase her powers of strength and flight.
