Site Monetizing Tips
You have created your website or blog, added photos and even content. A website or blog is perfectly fine on its own, but a website that earns money can turn into a profitable business. Whether you use the website or blog for your personal life or your own business, monetizing your site can prove effective when done correctly. Realize that monetizing doesn't happen overnight, and even with the right steps it can take several weeks or months to generate anything profitable.
-
Select a Payment Scheme
-
Monetizing programs for websites offer different payment schemes. Pay Per Impression or CPM means you're paid as many times as an advertiser's advertisement is shown on your website. Pay Per Click or PPC means you're paid for each time a visitor clicks on an advertisement. Pay Per Sale earns you income only when the visitor clicks on the advertisement and signs up or buys from that advertisement.
Pick an Advertising Network
-
Select an advertising network based on the type of payment scheme you want to use. Pay Per Click advertisers are ones such as Google Adsense, Chitika or Yahoo! Publisher Network. Pay Per Impression advertisers can include Casale Media, Value Click or Advertising.com.
-
Use Affiliate Marketing Networks
-
Affiliate marketing is as it sounds: Other merchants sell their products on your site. Your company earns a commission for each sale made when a customer is referred to an affiliate through your site and makes a purchase.
Utilize In-Text Advertisements
-
In-text advertisements are something you have most likely seen if you browse the Internet. These links are within a website's content and have double lines under a word. When you mouse over these double lines, a pop-up appears with a merchant's ad. Utilizing these can eliminate large ads on your website itself, and you're paid each time a user clicks on a double-lined advertisement.
Gain Traffic
-
Even if your website has advertisements and other means for monetizing, without traffic your website isn't going to generate much revenue. It's usually recommended you have at least 50 visitors a day to your site for monetizing. Start advertising your website through social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter or Myspace. Write and publish articles on other sites for back linking to generate more traffic to your site.
