Simple and quick wings
-
Cardboard wings embellished with glitter and jewels are easy to make. The fastest way to make fairy wings is with cardboard or a role of manila folder paper that can be purchased at an art store. Draw your shape for one wing, cut out, use as pattern for second wing and cut out. Use colored duct tape to tape wings together. Decorate as desired with flowers, glitter, feathers, jewels, and/or iridescent paint. Punch two holes in each wing to run string or ribbon through. Tie your wings on in a criss-cross pattern across your chest.
Fancy Fairy Wings
-
To make fancier fairy wings, start with 14g or 16g wire shaped into wings. Before attaching the two wing shapes together, apply strong craft glue to shape, cover with cellophane one side at a time like a sandwich. Tape or glue the two wings together and add straps for wearing. Embellish your fairy wings with glitter, feathers or jewels. Pure magic.

Easy Foam Wings
-
Another easy way to make fairy wings is with craft foam and pipe cleaners. Cut out your wings out of large sheets of colored craft foam. Glue on pipe cleaners to add stability and veining, curving as you like. Add ribbon to make it wearable, maybe even a few to use as streamers from the points of the wings. Decorate with glitter glue and jewels.
Petite Fairy Wings
-
If you're planning on wearing your wings to a party, just remember to keep them small. No one like to be hit with wings. Party perfect wings are made with coat hangers and brightly colored tights. First bend the hangers into shape and use pliers to attach the ends of the hangers together. Cut the legs off some colorful tights and stretch over the wire wing shape gathering at the ends of the hangers. Wrap the twisted ends with extra fabric for wearing comfort. Tie thick ribbons on where hangers meet to attach the wings to your shoulders. Embellish and enjoy.
