As the first day of school approaches, parents flock to stores to stock up on school supplies for their children. This is the perfect opportunity for stores to have sales and advertise back-to-school necessities. Some students need specific items for classes, but there are also basics that every student needs.
Laptops and computers are now an essential part of succeeding in school. Students living at home can sometimes share the family computer, but students going away to college will need a computer of their own. Graphic calculators are needed for advanced math classes, while regular calculators might be on the list of needed supplies for high schoolers. Ipods are also a great tool to advertise, because students can download podcasts or other programs to help with their studies.
Every student needs notebooks to take notes. Computer paper is also needed to print out assignments. Loose-leaf paper might be necessary for younger students who are not expected to use a computer for assignments. Folders to keep classes organized are necessary, along with planners.
Crayons, markers, rulers, scissors and glue are usually on the back-to-school list for elementary school children. Pens, pencils and highlighters are writing utensils that students will also need. Binders, backpacks and dividers will be used to keep assignments organized. There are other supplies that should be advertised, such as colored pencils, staplers, erasers, protractors and pencil pouches.
Kids grow out of their clothes quickly, so the beginning of the school year is a great time for back-to-school shopping. Jeans, sneakers, T-shirts, jackets and sweatshirts are closet staples. Children who have gym class will also need appropriate attire, such as running pants and swimsuits. Start advertising back-to-school clothing sales several weeks in advance.
