Decorations to Make for Indoor Church Picnics
Making decorations for an indoor church picnic makes the picnic a more festive occasion even on a rainy day. Church picnics are often a time for fun and fellowship amongst the congregation. Instead of waiting for the warm summer months to roll around, some churches plan indoor picnics. Making decorations for the occasion can be a group or individual task. Does this Spark an idea?

Food Markers
-
Take the guess work out of the food at the indoor picnic with food markers. Sometimes picking food is the hardest part of a picnic event. Many times, a church picnic is a potluck where of all the members of the congregation bring food. For an indoor picnic, the light is not as bright and the food might not be as easy to see. Attach a decorative card to a tongue depressor for handy food labels. Cut the cards to fun shapes such as stars or hearts. Use bright, light colors. As food comes into the picnic area, write what the item is on the card and place the stick into the dish. Food markers make great table decorations as well as providing useful information.
Special Tablecloths
-
One of the primary focus of picnics is the food table. At an indoor picnic, keep this focus by making special tablecloths. Choose plain white paper tablecloths and decorate to suit the occasions. If the church has a theme for the occasion, cut out or draw related items on the cloth. For example, if the theme is "Togetherness," cut out pictures of groups of people and attach to the cloth. If the picnic does not really have a theme, consider using traditional religious symbols to cover the cloths.

Bring the Outdoors Inside
-
Give an indoor church picnic an outdoor feel with paper flowers and grass. An outdoor picnic lets guests enjoy the natural surroundings. When brought indoors, this piece of the party disappears. Create an outdoor atmosphere for the indoor event. Make flowers from tissue or crepe paper. Put them on craft sticks in flower pots or glue on tables and walls. Glue fake grass onto large tablecloths and lay on the floor in areas designated for eating. Make signs for the wall referencing Bible verses concerning the creation of flowers and nature.
Life's a Beach
-
For a whimsical decorating theme, create decorations to represent the beach at an indoor church picnic. Glue sand onto large pieces of paper or tablecloths. Cut religious symbols from cloth and attach to umbrellas, beach blankets and lawn chairs. Print Bible verses on beach balls and place around the room to keep the focus of the party on the church and faith.
