Packing List for Traveling Abroad
Frequent travelers rely on packing lists to organize their voyage. The packing list is especially helpful when traveling to foreign countries where the climate, currency, electrical outlets and language are different. Lists can also be helpful when navigating new security measures for international flights and when declaring items and clearing customs.

Your packing list should include important travel documents. Your passport, visa and residency permit are often required at airport checkpoints and at customs. In addition, if traveling abroad by automobile, you may need to present an international driver's license.

Add clothing items to your list. If you are a woman traveling to the Middle East, you may need to include a veil or headscarf in your luggage. Rain gear and outerwear may be in order if you are planning a trip to a tropical forest or to a high altitude. Those planning a get-a-way to a resort may include swimming and diving gear. Comfortable shoes can round off the clothing items.

Different regions of the world use different types of electrical outlets. Put adapters on your packing list; they will be useful when using your laptop, hair dryer or cell phone charger. Day packs are useful to carry smaller items and leave your luggage in the hotel. Money belts can be a safe way to carry your currency with you.

MP3 players, iPods and laptops are essentials for travel. Add these items as well as a camera to the packing list.
Currency

You should carry a small amount of currency from the country that you will travel to as well as your own country's currency. Place your bank card or credit card on the list, as these cards provide access to cash from automatic teller machines in the foreign country.
