Sailing Theme Ideas
A sailing party can include a trip on a sailboat or simply a sailing themed party. Sailboats have a certain elegance and sophistication about them, and this elegant feeling can be translated into a party theme. For a child's party, a sailboat theme may include something less sophisticated and more fun and age appropriate like a smiling pelican in a captain's hat or something equally whimsical. Does this Spark an idea?

Invitations
-
Create a life preserver invitation for a sailing theme party. Cut a circle out of white card stock and add orange strips (with marker or paper). Wrap a thin rope around the life preserver and secure with glue. Glue the life preserver to a piece of light blue paper or just use it as it is and add the party information to the back. Alternatively, you can make a simple invitation by putting sailboat and other nautical-related stickers on a piece of card stock and attaching the party information to the card.
Decorations
-
A sailing theme party will, of course, utilize the image a sailboat. You can also add anchors, cut from white card stock, to the walls. Use a color scheme of white, light blue and sand. Use white or tan table linens and add pails full of sand and sea shells as centerpieces. Hang blue and white streamers from the ceiling and fill the room with blue helium balloons. You can also a red, white and blue color scheme. Encourage guests to dress in red, white or blue clothing. Add small American flags to guest tables for a touch of color.

Cake
-
Use a sheet cake for your sailing event. Cover the top with blue icing. You can make the "water" appear smooth, or you can whip the frosting up and add some white caps with white frosting. Add small model sailboats to the top of the cake. You can add crushed graham crackers to the corners of the cake to emulate sand. You can also create a sailboat cake by cutting a sheet cake into a simple sailboat shape.
Favors
-
A sailboat-themed event should include a nautical inspired favor. If you live near an ocean, fill small vials with ocean water and make a decorative label. This favor will be particularly special for guests who are from out of the area and may not have an ocean nearby. Another suitable favor is chocolate sea shells. Place the chocolates in small truffle boxes and tie with blue bow.
