Nothing caps the end of a weekend in the capital city of Ohio like a good Sunday brunch. Luckily, there are plenty options in Columbus and its suburbs. Whether you want an all you can eat buffet or just a light vegan breakfast, Columbus can satisfy your morning appetite.
Located just off of Interstate 71 on Polaris Parkway in northern Columbus, Polaris Grill (polarisgrill.com) offers a live music setting along with a buffet with its brunch. The Smooth Jazz Sunday Brunch Buffet features everything from bagels and Danishes to whole smoked salmon, roast beef and eggs Benedict. For dessert, choose from a variety of pies or try the chocolate fountain. While the buffet runs from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the music runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
94th Aero Squadron
Take in Ohio's aviation history while watching the arriving and departing air traffic at Port Columbus International Airport at the 94th Aero Squadron's (94thaero.com) brunch buffet. The restaurant itself is housed in an old country 1917 French Farmhouse and is decorated with military memorabilia and aviation relics from the World War I and World War II eras. The buffet features different stations such as a breakfast station with eggs Benedict, bacon and sausage, a carving station with roast beef and ham, a pasta and fajita station and a dessert station.
Cap City Diner
Cap City Diner (capcityfinediner.com) is a part of the Cameron Mitchell family of restaurants and has two locations - one in the suburb of Gahanna and one in Grandview near downtown Columbus. The brunch menu features appetizers such as hot and spicy calamari and pepperoni flatbread, a variety of salads, sandwiches and some of the restaurant's more famous entrees such as the Cap City Diner meatloaf.
Whole World Natural Bakery and Restaurant
For the vegetarian, head down to North High Street in Clintonville to the Whole World Natural Bakery and Restaurant (wholeworldnaturalrestaurant.com), a vegetarian restaurant established in 1978. The restaurant's Sunday brunch menu features many of the traditional breakfast foods including pancakes, French toast, quiche and omelets, with a number of items available in a vegan option.
With a history dating back to 1831, the Worthington Inn (worthingtoninn.com), located in downtown of the Worthington suburb, features a weekly variety of fresh fruits, salmon, prime rib omelets, waffles and other entrees that are based on the season. The restaurant itself has a Victorian facade and includes several private dining room and a ballroom on the third floor for private events.
If you want Italian flavor to your Sunday brunch, travel to Dublin where you can find Salvi's Bistro (salvisbistro.com). The buffet includes PastaSalvi -- described by the restaurant as egg noodles in a seasoned cream sauce, rolled in bread crumbs then golden fried so it is crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. There are also other staples as a waffle station, a carving station with prime rib as well as an assortment of deserts.
