Memorizing the Bible can be a bit challenging.

Study and memorization of the Bible are important disciplines within the Christian faith. Trying to memorize all 66 books, important historical events of both the Old and New Testaments in addition to key phrases, prayers, promises, commandments and character building text can be a bit overwhelming. Finding the right memorization tool that works best for you is ideal.

  1. Online Tools

    • As of 2011, there are several programs offered via the web. Websites, such as Biblos, offer an array of Christian educational aids and memorization tools, including online commentary, concordance and other attainable resources. Another added benefit with using several of the online tools, is that most of them are free.

Memorize His Word, unlike other online resources, offer memorization tools at a nominal cost. The MHW program enables you to recite, review and test newly learned text with several other learning components and study features made available.

    Software

    • With the advancement of technology, learning has become an easy commodity. Memorization tools for learning and memorizing the Bible are also available in software form. These tools may be downloaded directly to your computer from the distributor's website or purchased in a CD/DVD form. This too is available from the distributor's website or any Christian bookstore.

Software programs such as InVerse Scripture Memorization has over 15,000 Bible verses that are downloadable to your laptop, desktop or Palm and Pocket PC. InVerse allows archiving of previous lessons learned for future use. The Lamplight Scripture Memory Coach is another valuable tool which enables you to learn new scripture, plus review previously learned text as well.

    Index Cards

    • One of the classic ways of learning and memorizing biblical text is by index cards and regular review. Simply write particular text on an index card (or Post-it note) and glance at it throughout the day. You may even post these cards throughout your home, on mirrors, doors, walls or the refrigerator. Once you have memorized a passage of scripture remove the index card and replace it with another.

    Daily Reflection & Reciting

    • Daily reading and reciting of biblical text will help you memorize it slowly, but consistently. Try reading a passage of text in the morning and evening of each day, reflecting on what you have read, then reciting it repeatedly.
