    • William Jefferson Clinton served as the 42nd President of the United States from 1993 to 2001. He was the first Democratic president since Franklin D. Roosevelt to be elected for a second term. Born in 1946 in Hope, Arkansas, President Clinton graduated from Georgetown University and won a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University in 1968. He received a law degree from Yale University in 1973 and then returned to Arkansas to enter politics.

After returning to Texas, he was elected governor of the state in 1994 and 1998.
