Confirmation Gifts for Boys & Girls
The sacrament of confirmation follows the sacraments of baptism, penance and Holy Communion, completing the initiation into the faith. A ceremony is performed during Mass and young adults are confirmed as full-fledged members of the church. It is a very special day for the person being confirmed -- sometimes referred to as a confirmand -- and loved ones customarily give symbolic or religious gifts in celebration. The selection of confirmation gifts available is vast, and there is something for every taste.

Jewelry
-
Jewelry is the most popular option for confirmation gifts. Almost every confirmand will be given a saint medal, a religious pendant representing that person's patron saint. Rosary necklaces and bracelets are also commonly given. The many choices in necklaces include the Holy Spirit, angels, doves and crosses. Types of bracelets available vary widely as well, including faith, prayer, communion, and trinity bracelets. Prayer rings are another option, and they can be engraved to add a personal touch.
Keepsakes
-
A confirmand will enjoy having a special item to display to remind him of his confirmation and his faith. Items can be chosen according to what the confirmand enjoys. Rosary boxes, plaques, glass frames with a prayer or religious poem, and personalized photo frames are common keepsake gifts. Other ideas include snow globes, paperweights, ornaments, personalized plates and photo albums.

Crosses and Bibles
-
Two of the items most commonly associated with faith are crosses and Bibles. Crosses can be given in several forms, from the type that can be worn to the type that should be displayed. Jewelry crosses are very common, as are wall crosses engraved with the Lord's Prayer. Cross frames, bookmarks and keepsake boxes are acceptable gifts as well. Although most confirmands already have a Bible, it might be a children's Bible. There are some very nice teen Bibles out there, as well as personalized bags to store them in.
Non-Traditional
-
There are choices other than traditional confirmation gifts. One is a religious painting or watercolor -- there are websites that even create personalized ones. For a more personal gift, a scrapbook of the confirmand's religious milestones is nice; so is a personalized journal for recording her spiritual journey. Another option is a trip to a religious summer camp. This is an excellent way to make new friends of the same faith.
