Ideas for Pretty Face Painting

Ideas for Pretty Face Painting thumbnail
Pretty face painting designs can range from flowers to seascapes to abstract patterns.

People often paint their faces for theme parties and celebrations. At events like Mardi Gras, music festivals and of course, Halloween, elaborate face painting is seen on adults and kids alike. If you have an artistic flair and want some ideas for pretty face painting, pick up a face painting kit and a few extras at the craft store and you'll be on your way. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Glitter and Jewels

    • Two products that are good to have on hand for face painting are glitter and face jewels. Body glitter is safe for skin, will add extra sparkle to your face and works especially well with princess and fantasy designs. Stick-on jewels will make your design look more elaborate and professional. Peel the back off and stick it anywhere on your face. You can pick these items up in craft stores.

    Flowers

    • Paint a large flower on one cheek or in the middle of the forehead. Use different colors to draw a vine on both sides of the flower so that it goes down the sides of the face. Add little flowers to the vine and little flowers to the corners of the eye. Use bright eyeshadow for the eyelids and bright lipstick to bring out the lips. Another pretty idea is a large flower drawn around the eye so that the eye is the center of the flower. The petals will go on the cheek, the forehead, and across the bridge of the nose. Use jewels and bright colors to make it stand out.

    Butterfly

    • A butterfly is a good face design because it can be used to take up a large portion of your face and you can use a lot of different colors. Use black paint to draw the butterfly body on the nose and in between your eyebrows. Draw the wings of the butterfly so that they extend across the eyes, above the eyebrows and on to the cheeks. Use bright colors to fill in the butterfly wings and add glitter for extra sparkle. Use any color for the lips.

    The Ocean

    • Transform a face into a lovely ocean scene. Start by using a light blue color for the whole face. Draw an octopus head in between and slightly above the eyebrows. Draw the legs to extend across the eyelids, and onto the nose and cheeks. Draw a fish on each corner of the mouth so that the fish mouths join in the middle of your lips. Draw the fish tails so that they curl slightly above your mouth. Glitter can be used on the fish for sparkle. Using white paint for the octopus and yellow paint for the fish would make both bright and stand out.
