The nutrional benefits of nuts are becoming more widely known.

Nuts offer people a host of nutritional benefits. They provide nutrients that fight diabetes and heart disease, improve the immune system and brain function and may even help in losing weight. According to Josh Axe, M.D., research has established that nuts reduce low-density lipoproteins, or LDL, cholesterol levels while raising the levels of high-density lipoproteins, or HDL, cholesterol. One serving of almonds provides the body with more calcium than than an equal portion of milk. Selenium and vitamin E are antioxidants, which are found in almonds, too. Processed nuts

Processed nuts are the worst nuts to eat, especially those that are pre-shelled. Pre-shelled processed nuts are less healthy because their natural oils and fats deteriorate through processing, until they become rancid. The salt and sugar in processed nuts diminishes health benefits. Roasted nuts are typically processed in unhealthy hydrogenated oils.
