Ideas for Inexpensive Wedding Decorations
Many people go into debt when planning a wedding, but you don't have to. There are plenty of ways to cut costs without sacrificing the look or feel of your big day. When it comes to your decor, consider budget-friendly alternatives to grand centerpieces, expensive fabrics, flowers that only last a couple of days and costly lighting packages offered by many DJs and reception halls.

Balloons
-
Balloons can be purchased by the pound in virtually every possible color. One way to incorporate balloons into your wedding is to tie them tightly together on an archway. They can also be filled with helium and attached to wedding-themed balloon weights, then placed on service tables or in corners on the floor. Other ideas include tying balloons to the head table, attaching them to trees or securing them to the ceiling with a net for a late-night balloon drop.
Tulle
-
Tulle is a sheer, mesh-like fabric that is incorporated into many wedding dresses and decorations. Not only is it visually appealing but it's also inexpensive and can be purchased in bulk. Tulle is often draped along the front of head tables in cascading layers and attached with ribbons. Many people also place white Christmas lights behind the tulle to give it a softer look. Other ideas include draping tulle from the ceiling to transform the room or decorating guest chairs by tying strips of tulle around the backs and securing each one with a ribbon. Tulle can also be used to wrap wedding favors and decorate archways.

Paper
-
Inexpensive wedding decorations made of paper can be purchased online or in a party supply store. Some examples include paper garland shaped like wedding bells or hearts, confetti for spreading on tables, roses for attaching to chairs and banners to hang on the wall. If you are the creative type, consider making origami flowers to use as your bouquet or to make flower arrangements for the tables. You could also hang origami cranes from the ceiling or fill up transparent cylinders with tiny origami hearts.
Candles
-
Candles can be purchased in packages from any dollar or discount store. They are a great way to add ambiance to a space without needing an expensive lighting package and can be used in lieu of costly flowers for centerpieces and service table decorations. They can also be placed in enclosed candle holders and used to line the walkway to your reception hall or tent. If you are having an outdoor wedding, you can put candles in inexpensive lanterns and hang them from the trees.
