Description
-
Opachki.Ru is a variation of the Opachki trojan. The Trojan disguises itself as a legitimate file, such as an audio codec or an email attachment, to trick users into downloading the Trojan onto their computer. The Trojan than launches pop-up advertisements, usually stating that your computer is infected, attempting to scare you into downloading additional malware, such as rogue anti-virus programs. In addition, Opachki.Ru slows your computer, changes your system settings and modifies your files.
Automatic Removal
-
Opachki.Ru can be removed by running an up to date anti-malware program. Windows users should consider running Microsoft Security Essentials, a free anti-malware program that can be downloaded from the Microsoft Safety and Security Center homepage. Once the program is downloaded, open the program, click the "Home" tab, check the box next to "Full" and click "Scan Now." Microsoft Security Essentials will scan your entire computer and automatically remove any trojans it detects. Note that while the Windows operating system comes with a program called Windows Defender, this program is designed to remove spyware and not Trojans.

Manual Removal
-

Removing these processes and files will not completely remove the trojan, but it may stop the trojan from running. The process and files that Opachki.Ru installs are "protect.dll" and "autochk.dll."

In addition to running an up-to-date anti-malware program, consider turning on the Windows Firewall. To do this, click "Start," "Control Panel," type "firewall" into the search field and click "Windows Firewall." Then, click "Turn Windows Firewall On or Off" and "Turn On Windows Firewall."
