Bruise cream, otherwise called bruise ointment, is a type of cream or lotion used to help minimize bruising and heal bruises faster. With so many available products on the market, finding the best one for your personal needs can seem complicated and confusing. Fortunately, finding the best is not as challenging as it might seem.
Look at the ingredients in the bruise cream or ointment. The best bruise creams have herbal ingredients like St. John's Wort, green tea or arnica. Arnica is perhaps one of the best potential ingredients, because it has properties of pain relief, is anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. Due to the potent power of the plant, a cream with arnica in it will not only help the bruise heal faster, but will give some relief to the pain of bruising.
A bruise cream, as opposed to other types of ointment options, should not only have properties of healing, but should also help moisturize the skin. The best type of moisturizing properties will vary by skin type and the individual needs of a person's skin. For example, someone with an oily skin type does best with water-based rather than oil-based cream. Someone with dry skin might require oil-based moisturizers.
Anyone who has had surgery resulting in bruising or has a bruising problem should use a product recommended by the doctor. Only a doctor can determine the best product for use with medical needs. A doctor's recommendation is not needed for normal bruising, such as a bruise that results from bumping into something.
The price of the bruise cream is often a consideration before buying. Prices for bruise creams can range from around $6 to $100, depending on the brand and the ingredients in the cream. Creams with arnica typically start at around $10.
